Due to the high temperatures forecast for Thursday, Jackson Memorial High School will dismiss early on June 9. This schedule change applies to Jackson Memorial High School only. This means that JMHS will dismiss at 11:54 a.m. and operate on the typical shortened day schedule. All exams scheduled for Thursday will still take place during the 60-minute period time frame. While this schedule change is unfortunate, it is necessary to protect the health and safety of our students and staff. The climate in that building under the predicted conditions is not something our students and staff should be asked to endure. During this time of year, parents ask us why JMHS is not air conditioned. Please know that we continue to investigate options to air condition the school, but a project that size is almost impossible to accomplish within the regular operating school budget and previous special referendum questions to complete the project have been unsuccessful.
