Huge crowd for Puerto Rican parade

NEW YORK

Entertainer /*John Leguizamo*/ was global ambassador to the arts for Sunday's parade.

The Puerto Rican parade has been an annual event in New York since 1958 and has grown to be one of the city's largest.

Past years have seen hundreds of thousands of spectators lining the parade route. Elected officials including Mayor Michael Bloomberg attended.

The theme for this year's parade was "celebrating the natural beauty of Puerto Rico."

It began at 43rd Street and proceeded up 5th Avenue to 79th Street.

The parade lasted until 6 p.m.
