Body found in state park ID'd as Bronx woman

NEW YORK

The /*New York State Police*/ has tentatively identified the woman found in /*James Baird State Park*/ as 22-year-old /*Jasmine Maxine Nunez*/.

The body was found in the woods.

A motorist driving by saw something burning and called 911 to report a brush fire, but it wasn't.

Police believe the suspect's intention was to burn the body beyond recognition, but a tattoo remained on the victim's back, helping investigators tentatively identify her.

Though Baird State Park is a sprawling 490 acres, police say the suspect acted hastily and dumped the body on the main access road less than a mile from the /*Taconic State Parkway*/.

Nunez's family reported her missing to the NYPD this weekend.

Investigators are now working to piece together what happened in the hours before her death.

Nunez was last seen with her live-in boyfriend, 26-year-old /*Andres Ceballos*/.

Virginia police say they attempted to stop a car matching Ceballos' vehicle on Route 58 heading west towards Emporia, VA on Monday, June 20.

A chase ensued, and a man tentatively identified as Ceballos fled the vehicle on foot and then shot and killed himself.

Police are working to positively identify both bodies.
