A New York City bus driver is recovering after being attacked by a passenger.

The MTA says a passenger tried to get on the bus in the Fordham section of the Bronx Tuesday afternoon with a dog tucked into her jacket.

When the driver, Marlene Bien'aime, tried to stop her, the passenger allegedly punched the driver and dragged her out of the bus by her hair and continued to beat her.

The passenger was arrested.

The driver is being treated for head and chest injuries and a black eye.
