Arsonist targets hair salon in Farmingville

FARMINGVILLE

The fires happened at /*Contempo Salon II*/, at 626A Horseblock Road, very early Wednesday and Friday morning last week.

In surveillance video from Friday's incident, you can see a man walk up, pour something across the front of the salon and set the fire.

Two days before, also at 2:30 in the morning, arson investigators say the same man broke the front window of /*Martha Carrion*/'s business, throwing a Molotov cocktail inside.

"I'm not gonna close," Carrion said.

She has keep her business open after both fires.

Carrion has 4 children and 2 hair salons. The one targeted by the arsonist opened 6 months ago.

She said she will not shut down because her employees need jobs.

"They have families and every day need to put food on the table," she said.

Her resolve and loyalty are matched in intensity only by the shock of watching a man deliberately try to ruin her business.

"I never thought this happen to me. I have no enemies, only friends," she said.

Only her daughter will guess out loud this might have something to do with competition for the lease on this store. They did beat out other people, but truly don't know why they've been targeted. They just hope someone turns this man in before he tries this again.

Suffolk County Police Detectives are asking anyone with information on these fires to call the Arson Section at 631-852-6150 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
