AMITYVILLE

Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, called the June 8 incident in Amityville "a horrible act of animal cruelty."

The 9-week-old black kitten, named Beetle, suffered broken legs.

Gross said that the male cat was treated at the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington and is recovering with a foster family.

The suspect could face felony animal cruelty charges.
