Suffolk County fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fast-moving house fire that killed one person.

A passerby called 911 after spotting smoke and flames coming from a two-story home in Selden at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Eyewitnesses say a downed power line hampered efforts by residents to rescue a man through a second-floor window.

The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Four other residents and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.
