Fire fighters responded to a fire at 2120 /*Lafayette Avenue*/ in the /*Castle Hill*/ neighborhood, about 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Crews rescued two people from the second floor.
They were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The /*FDNY*/ says the fire was caused by an electrical problem.
They say the home had fire detectors installed but they did not have batteries in them.
