Attys: Mom in son's NYC death wasn't mentally ill

NEW YORK

Gigi Jordan's lawyers said in a court filing Tuesday that she doesn't plan an insanity defense. A prior Jordan attorney had suggested she might.

Jordan plans to argue that son Jude Mirra's death was an altruistic filicide, or a child killing by a parent who believes she's acting in the child's best interest.

Jude died of a prescription drug overdose in February 2010. Jordan was found incoherent. She'd left a letter indicating she planned to kill them both.

Prosecutors have called Jude's killing calculated.
