New York area hospitals fare well in new rankings

There are new rankings of the top hospitals in the country, and several in New York fared quite well.

U.S. New and World Report surveyed specialists and sifted through data to rank the hospitals in a number of ways.

When it comes to tops in the New York Metro region, here are the top five:

1. New York-Presbyterian of Columbia and Cornell
2. NYU Langone
3. Mount Sinai
4. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
5. Hospital for Special Surgery

When it comes to specialties, Mount Sinai was tops in the country for geriatrics. Memorial Sloan-Kettering rated second for cancer treatment, and the Hospital for Special Surgery was tops in orthopedics and second in rheumatology.
