Environmental authorities are warning that rising temperatures in the region will cause unhealthy air across Connecticut.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says the worst air will come on Friday when the state gets the hottest part of a heat wave.

A forecast of "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups," or Code Orange, has been issued due to high concentrations of ground-level ozone for Thursday and officials say the air could be classified as "Unhealthy," or Code Red, by Friday.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy also issued a dangerous heat warning Wednesday.
