Miami Beach police said Sunday that Detective Harold Thomas underwent surgery after Saturday morning's shooting. His condition Sunday was not known.
Miami Beach police Detective Vivian Hernandez tells The Miami Herald that Thomas was staying at a boutique hotel on Collins Avenue.
It's not clear what led to the shooting. On Saturday, Hernandez said Thomas had been involved in an altercation in an outdoor corridor area at the loft-style hotel.
No arrests have been made.
