Two police officers aboard Harbor Charlie rescued a dog in Jamaica Bay.

It happened at 7:35 p.m. Monday, two miles from shore.

The German shepherd named Charlie was lifted on board a canvass and was conducted on shore where the dog's owners were located by Police Officers Benjamin Reiver and Edward Carr.

The shepherd who was recently acquired from Germany had jumped from their vehicle and ran into the water and was apparently swept by the currents two miles out.
