Vandals target vehicles in East Flatbush

EAST FLATBUSH

Just ask car owners in /*East Flatbush*/ along East 38th Street.

"It's like six cars here. Three cars on Avenue D. It's terrible," Stephanie Turner said.

Turner's car window was smashed, and she can't believe someone would do this.

They got Jenevie Pascall's passenger side window too, shattered it to pieces.

"Fortunately, I didn't (have anything stolen), but speaking to some of my neighbors, they did," she said.

Up and down East 38th Street, six cars were vandalized. Residents think it happened sometime after 4:00 Friday morning.

What puzzles them, it seems to be indiscriminate.

Investigators said what the vandals seemed to do in each case was smash the window, rifle through the glove box or center console, but in many cases they didn't steal anything.

The owner of one car says it is the second time in a month that vandals hit her car. She spent $80 fixing the last window.

Stephanie Turner discovered that her vehicle might be more than just a broken window.

"I can't even get into my car. I can't open the door. It won't open. It won't open," she said.
