Dog rescued after being thrown into river

HAWTHORNE, N.J.

The female pit bull was found near the bottom of a railroad bridge in Hawthorne Thursday.

Firefighters and animal control workers pulled her to safety on their boat.

Rescue workers say the dog recently had puppies, but they haven't been found.

They've named the dog "Dolly" and say she's doing well.

Anyone who has any information about Dolly or is interested in adopting her is asked to call the Tyco Animal Control at 201-652-4554.
