A Siberian Husky who was targeted for euthanasia after twice killing neighborhood chickens has been spared, but she's been banished from Connecticut.

An agreement Thursday between the town of Tolland and Richard Rosenthal, founder of The Lexus Project, an animal defense group, makes Rosenthal responsible for Luna. The Hartford Courant reports that he will give the dog to Double Dog Rescue in Massachusetts.

Luna had been in the Tolland animal pound since June 20 after she escaped from her owner's property and killed a neighbor's chickens.

A Facebook page in support of Luna drew the attention of Rosenthal and he obtained a temporary restraining order against euthanizing the dog.
