Nassau County Police said 33-year-old Tara Driscoll surrendered Friday. The Bay Shore resident pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in district court in Hempstead on charges of third-degree rape and criminal sexual act. Bail was set at $5,000.
Defense attorney Virginia Lopreto declined comment.
Police said Driscoll and the student had sex at a motel in Lynbrook last March. They say the victim remained quiet until his mother found out and contacted authorities. The student was identified only as younger than 17.
Driscoll is assigned to the Campus Magnet High School in Queens.
A board of education spokeswoman said Driscoll was removed from the classroom in May.
