Search continues at landfill for missing IU student

PIMENTO, Ind.

Meantime, her parents spoke out on Wednesday saying that they are not giving up hope.

The Bloomington Police Department said in a statement Tuesday that its officers, the FBI and the IU Police Department began searching Sycamore Ridge Landfill south of Terre Haute about 7 a.m. on Tuesday for clues in the disappearance of 20-year-old /*Lauren Spierer*/.

The Greenburgh, N.Y., woman vanished June 3 after a night out in Bloomington with friends.

A team from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is helping search the landfill, which accepts trash from the Bloomington area. Police say the search could take up to two weeks and involve 20 to 30 officers each day.
