Bachmann on the anniv. of Elvis Presley's death

August 16, 2011

But then Michelle Bachmann took the headlines from Elvis, and dang if it didn't lift yet another revealing layer from this Republican presidential candidate.

At a campaign stop in South Carolina, the Congresswoman from Minnesota entered to the music of Elvis' "Promised Land."

As she took the microphone she told the crowd, of about 300, she wanted to wish the King "happy birthday." Someone in the crowd shouted that "he DIED today!"

Bachmann apparently ignored the shout, and her error, and went ahead with her canned stump speech.

You'll see the incident, tonight at 11.

And speaking of politics, we'll also have day two of Pres. Obama's campaign stumping, although the White House insists this is NOT a campaign event. Mr. Obama's bus trip to the mid-land is designed to counter the wicked criticism Republican candidates are unleashing, and for him to unveil a new jobs program.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus meteorologist Jeff Smith (in for Lee Goldberg) with his AccuWeather forecast, and Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
