Stanley Bowens, 21, of Heath Avenue in the Bronx, was arrested and brought to Staten Island Criminal Court in Stapleton. He is facing charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon for his alleged role in the shooting death of Shytik Bowman on August 4 in Mariners Harbor.
Police say Bowman was leaving a deli just after 10:30 p.m. when he was approached by Bowens across from 38 Holland Avenue. Bowens allegedly robbed Bowman of his bracelet and shot him three times before fleeing to the Bronx, where he was captured Monday.
After a search warrant was obtained, detectives recovered a .32-caliber revolver in the bedroom where Bowens was sleeping. The gun was analyzed and came back as a match to the murder weapon.
Bowens had been held just on the weapon and drug charges and was free on $10,000 bail, and NYPD detectives re-arrested him Thursday morning.
