The baby girl, was apparently healthy, was left inside a shoebox on a white plastic chair with two roses beside her.
A neighbor discovered her around 7 a.m. Friday on his way out the door. Now, she's at Mount Sinai Queens Hospital and police are investigating.
Residents on 28th street had a hard time believing a baby would be abandoned on their block. According to published reports, the neighbor who discovered her had never seen her before.
As neighbors absorb the news, police are looking for clues and for the mother.
