William Paterson U. to delay start of classes

WAYNE, N.J.

William Paterson University says it will delay the first day of classes until Sept. 6 due to widespread flooding that has made travel difficult throughout New Jersey.

Classes originally were scheduled to start on Thursday.

Officials also announced Tuesday that they've extended the time for students to check in to residence halls. Student check-in will be held Wednesday through Friday as well as on Monday afternoon, Labor Day.

Officials said the campus is open and fully functional and its operations have not been affected.
