NYC woman charged with ex-boyfriend's death

HAVERSTRAW

Jody-Ann Hemmings was indicted on second-degree murder and first-degree arson. The 23-year-old woman is accused of stabbing Jason Ognenoff multiple times on Aug. 18.

Firefighters discovered Ognenoff's body in the living room of his Mount Ivy apartment.

Prosecutor Richard Kennison Moran said in Haverstraw Town Court that Hemmings hit Ognenoff with a figurine, then stabbed him with a steak knife.

The Journal News says the 37-year-old victim didn't have use of one arm because of a motorcycle crash years ago.

Friends said the two had dated briefly.

It wasn't immediately clear if Hemmings had a lawyer.

She will be arraigned after a judge signs the indictment.
