Special election

September 13, 2011

So what a turnaround that in tonight's special election to fill Weiner's seat - he resigned in a "sexting" scandal earlier this year. Because who would have ever thought that the Democrats might lose their hold on New York's 9th Congressional District? After all, Weiner overwhelmingly won the seat several times, and the truth is no Republican has ever held the seat.

But tonight, the Dems are in danger of losing the seat. Retired businessman Bob Turner, a Republican, has tried to turn his campaign against Democratic Assemblyman and former City Councilman David Weprin into a referendum on President Obama. Fairly or not.

We'll see. We have two reporters on the race tonight at 11.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather forecast, and Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
