Police in southern New Jersey say two officers shot and killed a man who was threatening them with a knife.

The officers had responded to a domestic dispute on Otis Avenue in Tuckerton just before 8:30 p.m.

Neighbors say they heard at least half a dozen gunshots in the house.

The 35-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two officers were taken to the community medical center in Toms River for evaluation after the shooting.
