Doctors called fluorescent imaging. Researchers at Purdue University invented this technique, which turns /*ovarian cancer*/ cells into easy to find bright sparkling points of light.
The procedure allows surgeons to see cancer cells 30 times smaller than what was previously possible, enabling them to find up to 5 times as many cancerous deposits than before.
Surgeons in Europe are already using the Purdue technique. Similar glow in the dark surgery is being used to target other forms of cancer at the Cleveland Clinic.
The mayo clinic is scheduled to start surgeries using this fluorescent imaging next month.
