The side of the two-story building, which was surrounded by the scaffolding, collapsed at West 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue just after 9:30 a.m.
The most severely injured was a construction worker who jumped off the scaffolding as it was starting to fall. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. Three other construction workers suffered minor injuries.
An MTA bus was near the building at the time of the collapse. Nine passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries. Another four people were injured on the street, including two police officers.
The scaffolding collapsed onto the back of the Bx 15 bus, which had picked up passengers and was about to pull away from the West 125th Street bus stop at the time.
The M60, M100, M101 and BX15 buses were detoured around the collapse.
According to the Buildings Department, the contractor is Disano Demolition, based in Whitestone, Queens. People had complained about this job site back on September 7, but according to the Buildings Department, no violation was warranted at the time.
