Fire destroys auto parts store in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN

The fire started at 12:23pm in a Danken's auto store on 4th Avenue.

Heavy smoke confronted firefighters, making their task of putting out the flames that much more difficult.

The fire started on the second floor and quickly spread to attic and then thru roof.

The flames became so intense that firefighters evacuated the building because of intensity of fire.

Neighboring buildings were also evacuated as a precaution.

The fire was brought under control by 4:00 p.m.

Five firefighters suffered minor injuries. They were treated at the scene.

The cause is under investigation.
