Paterson mayor, officials return checks for Irene OT

PATERSON, NJ

Payments for relief work, at more than $200,000, went to Mayor /*Jeffery Jones*/ and at least six other city officials.

Those checks were officially returned to the city treasury Tuesday night, but city and state officials are demanding an explanation.

Public records show Jones was paid $6,144 in overtime. The rest of the money went to aides, who normally are ineligible.

Jones receives an annual salary of $119,017.
