Authorities say a Richard Stockton College student died in a motor vehicle crash on campus one day before his birthday.

Joseph Miller of Medford would have turned 22 on Wednesday.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel says Miller was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Joao Simoes of Newark.

The prosecutor says the students were traveling on Stockton's campus in Galloway Township on Tuesday night when the vehicle hit a deer and then several trees.

Simoes was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
