The crash happened in the westbound lanes about 3:30 a.m. in /*Jericho*/, near Route 106/107 and involved two tractor trailers and one car.
The car went through a guardrail, rolling off the road and onto the grass below. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tractor trailers could be seen pulled off on the shoulder.
The police investigation went on throughout the morning, closing all westbound lanes near exit 41 for hours. The delays stretched back for miles, and commuters were urged to use other roadways.
