More jets over Nassau Co. due to new flight paths

NASSAU COUNTY

The new flight paths out of /*Kennedy Airport*/ begin on Thursday.

The Federal Aviation Administration says more commercial aircraft will be visible along the North Shore. But FAA officials say noise levels will increase only slightly because the planes' altitude will be between 5,000 to 10,000 feet.

In April, the FAA estimated that the new departure routes out of JFK would send up to 200 jets a day over the North Shore.

The new flight patterns are designed to allow for more efficient use of the airspace and to cut flight delays.
