NY parents face 90 days jail in abduction case

NEW YORK

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown called Tuesday's guilty plea by 28-year-old Shanel Nadal and 24-year-old Nephra Payne "just and fair." Both face 90 days in jail and three years' probation when they are sentenced Nov. 10.

Nadal slipped out of a supervised visited at a Queens foster care agency with her sevens sons and infant daughter on Sept. 19, and then left town with her husband. The family was found about a week later safe in their van in Pennsylvania. The children were unharmed.

Their lawyer says the couple took their children from foster care because they believed some of the children were being abused.
