Police say a worker from United Cesspool Service had fallen into a sewer vat at the Avalon Commons apartment complex in /*Smithtown*/ at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say the worker, 43-year-old Richard Dennison, of /*Central Islip*/, was pulled out of the vat by officers from the Emergency Service Section. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say there is no criminality suspected and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be notified.
