A group of nurses filed suit last week against the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey claiming the hospital required them to undergo training that involved assisting in the procedure.
The suit claimed they could be subject to termination if they didn't comply.
Attorneys for the hospital notified a federal judge in Newark on Thursday that UMDNJ won't require the nurses to participate in the training before a Nov. 18 court hearing. The judge issued a temporary restraining order to that effect.
The hospital has said none of its nurses is required to participate in procedures he or she objects to on religious or moral grounds.
