Barbara Sheehan was sentenced Thursday to five years. She is free pending her appeal.
Sheehan was acquitted of murder last month in a case that cast a spotlight on the issue of domestic violence.
The 50-year-old mother of two testified that she shot her husband, Raymond Sheehan, in self-defense on Feb. 18, 2008.
She said the retired NYPD sergeant had threatened to kill her if she didn't go with him on a Florida vacation.
The weapon charge carried a mandatory prison sentence of 3 1/2 to 15 years.
