Digital TV screen at PA Terminal tormenting neighbors

NEW YORK

A huge digital TV screen is now lighting up the neighborhood, and many who live there don't like it.

A view in New York City is considered prime real estate.

But for residents along 43rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, their south facing view has become a nightly torment.

This summer the port authority put up a 6,000 square foot digital screen on 42nd Street by 8th Avenue which every night screams into Ed Ma's bedroom.

He says even with the shades drawn, the ever changing colors and lights from the sign manage to squeeze inside.

Granted Times Square is the very epitome of bright lights in the big city, but residents say that's fine because the other signs face commercial buildings not their bedrooms.

Community Board 4 has now gotten involved and is asking the Port Authority to be a good neighbor.
