Authorities say the sexual predator targets older women while they are at work, in broad daylight. The surveillance video shows the suspect smoking a cigarette and leaning against a store front in /*Bedford-Stuyvesant*/ on Friday.
What happened next, they say, was consistent with the suspect's pattern. The man allegedly went into the store and forced a 61-year-old woman to the back, where he tried to rape her.
The victim suffered a broken ankle and cuts to her face and arms. The suspect took off with a fistful of cash.
Police say this isn't the first time he struck. On October 26, just after noon, police say the same man tried to sexually assault a 77-year-old woman inside her workplace.
"I think he was trying to choke her and take her clothes off," one area resident said.
The suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30. He is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.
"It's crazy, but we all have to watch after each other," a neighbor said. "Because it could happen anywhere."
