NY parents get 60 days jail in abduction case

NEW YORK

Twenty-eight-year-old Shanel Nadal and 34-year-old Nephra Payne had pleaded guilty to second-degree custodial interference.

Nadal slipped out of a supervised visited at a Queens foster care agency with her sevens sons and infant daughter on Sept. 19, and then left town with her husband. The family was found about a week later safe in their van in Pennsylvania. The children were unharmed.

Their lawyer says the couple took their children from foster care because they believed some of the children were being abused.

The judge Wednesday also sentenced the couple to three years' probation.
