There's a warning now for neighbors to watch their backs while the attacker remains on the loose.
Both of the victims were robbed in /*Stuyvesant Town*/ and one of them ended up in the hospital.
Police are releasing surveillance video and a picture of the suspect. They want to catch the man who is targeting older men, roughing them up, and stealing their money.
The two muggings happened in Stuyvesant Town this month.
Both of them were caught on camera.
Police say the first one happened earlier this month, on November 3rd at about 5:15 p.m., the suspect followed a 77-year-old man into the building's vestibule, grabbed him and stole cash from his pocket.
The robber then ran.
"It's very upsetting," resident Maggie Landis said.
"I really feel like they need more security," resident Howie Ray said.
Many are rattled after seeing images of the second mugging, which happened November 23.
Police say the same suspect is responsible.
He followed a 71-year-old into the lobby, grabbed him, threw him to the ground and stole his money.
The suspect is seen on surveillance rifling through the 71-year-old's pockets.
Then he takes off, leaving the elderly man with a broken arm.
Residents hope police find this mugger quickly and hope to see more private security soon, too, in light of these attacks.
Police say the suspect is in his 40s, about 5'8", weighing around180 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black waist-length jacket, red winter hat, blue jeans and sneakers.
He also wears glasses.
