A city employee is under arrest accused of driving drunk and causing a violent car crash on the Lower East Side.

Jessie Strauss, 29, works for the NYC Business Integrity Commission.

He was driving a city issued car which had emergency lights in the grille.

Officers say Strauss' car collided with a white mini-van near South Street and Clinton Street early Saturday morning.

Strauss' car then slammed into a pillar and burst into flames.

He is charged with DWI and aggravated vehicular assault.
