According to detectives, the victim, a 73-year-old male from Bellmore, was crossing Washington Avenue in Seaford on foot to enter his parked vehicle when he was struck by car.
It happened at 5:47 p.m.
The driver, a 53-year-old man from Seaford, was driving northbound on Washington Avenue.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced at 6:15 p.m.
There was no criminality involved in this accident.
The driver's vehicle was impounded for safety checks.
