A new study found the importance of diagnosing and treating vitamin D deficiency.

University of Kansas researchers found more than 70% of people they tested did not have enough vitamin D.

Those whose deficiency was then corrected with supplements had a 60% lower risk of dying from any cause.

Vitamin D is mostly absorbed into the body from sunlight.

Researchers recommend adults get tested to find out if they need supplements.
