Body found along I-287 in NJ; hit and run suspected

A person found on the shoulder of Interstate 287 in Hanover Thursday morning was the apparent victim of a fatal hit and run.

The body was found on the shoulder of the southbound lanes, near exit 39, just before 6 a.m.

State police say their preliminary investigation suggests the person was the victim of a hit and run.

They ask anyone with information to call New Jersey State Police Netcong Station at 973-347-1001.

The investigation closed the southbound right lane through the area for the morning commute.
