Report: NYPD officers blasted parade-goers online

NEW YORK

The New York Times reports that officers took to Facebook to discuss their loathing of the annual celebration of Caribbean culture. The parade takes place on Labor Day in Brooklyn.

The Times said one poster whose name matched that of a police officer said, "Let them kill each other." Another wrote, "It's not racist if it's true."

The newspaper says it contacted some of the posters, who confirmed that they were police officers.

Department spokesman Paul Browne said he would refer the issue to the Internal Affairs Bureau.

The Facebook page was called "No More West Indian Day Detail." It has been taken down.
