Arrest in Brooklyn attempted rapes

NEW YORK Police arrested Donald Deliotte, 48, in connection with the attempted rapes.

Somebody recognized Deliotte from the surveillance video and made an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.

Authorities say the suspect targeted older women while they were at work, in broad daylight. The surveillance video showed the suspect smoking a cigarette and leaning against a store front in /*Bedford-Stuyvesant*/ on Friday.

The man allegedly went into the store and forced a 61-year-old woman to the back, where he tried to rape her.

The victim suffered a broken ankle and cuts to her face and arms. The suspect took off with a fistful of cash.

Deliotte was also wanted for a similar attack on October 26. Police say the same man tried to sexually assault a 77-year-old woman inside her workplace.

"I think he was trying to choke her and take her clothes off," one area resident said.

Deliotte, who lives in Bed-Stuy, is charged with two counts each of attempted rape, robbery, assault and strangulation.
