A Mount Vernon firefighter died, possibly of a heart attack, at a fire in the city's Tony Fleetwood section.

The firefighter, identified as 54-year-old Kevin Townes, died shortly after responding to the house fire on Lorraine Avenue Thursday morning.

Officials say he was a 25-year veteran and was married with three kids.
