Dems budget would save nature centers

The fight to keep six nature centers in Westchester County open took a positive turn Thursday.

Democratic lawmakers say they plan to approve a budget that restores the sanctuaries without raising property taxes.

The county executive's proposal would have eliminated staff at the nature centers, effectively making them regular parks.

He must sign off on the Democrats' plan for it to take effect.
