Police say he followed a 47-year-old woman off a bus, then attacked her in Springfield Gardens apartment building on Saturday.
The man is described as being a black male, 18 to 24 years old, and between 5-foot-8 and 6-feet tall.
He was wearing a dark coat and a black backpack.
