NJ man pleads not guilty in toddler death

NEWARK

A public defender representing 27-year-old Wakir Bryant entered the plea on his behalf in court in Newark Wednesday.

Bryant faces aggravated manslaughter charges in the death of 2-year-old Mikhy Robison. The child died Friday after being shot in the mouth earlier that day in a Newark apartment.

Prosecutors said Bryant drove Robinson and the child's mother to a nearby hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead. He was arrested later that night.

Bryant remains held on $1 million bail.

Authorities have said how or why the shooting occurred.
